When I was in university, I saw The 400 Blows and L'Enfant Sauvage, and was extremely touched by the way Truffaut shot children, how he was able to capture the 'child's gaze' instead of just having them act. This was also an influence that continues today. So for films like Nobody Knows and Shoplifters, where children are also the protagonists, that's definitely in there.
