I look at stuff like Eisenstein's unfinished Mexican film, which is beautiful and poetic and clearly about a place and people, but not journalism and not storytelling in the conventional sense. So I don't feel like I'm making stuff up. There's a long tradition of people blurring categories. That's what I connect with.
