I saw this entire series again before shooting MEMORIES OF MURDER. I’m amazed at how Lynch creates a unique atmosphere by mixing bizarre elements with beauty. It’s a series that really influenced MEMORIES OF MURDER, because in my film there’s also a strange detective story, and there’s also the feeling of the small town and the characters in it.
