Ray's films deeply explored Indian classical music and spirituality, with Ravi Shankar himself appearing in and scoring several of his works, most notably 'Pather Panchali'.

Wenders created the documentary 'Ravi Shankar: The Concerto Years' which intimately examines Shankar's musical innovations and his role in bridging Eastern and Western music traditions.
