Marc Preston Webb (born August 31, 1974) is an American filmmaker and music video director. Webb made his feature film directorial debut in 2009 with the romantic comedy “500 Days of Summer” and went on to direct “The Amazing Spider-Man” (2012) and “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” (2014), which were later dubbed the "Webb-Verse" by Marvel Studios in 2021. We looked at 'The Son' by the Dardenne brothers and 'Caché' by Michael Haneke to get a sense of how you use handheld camera to convey a sense of immediacy and intimacy.

There's a lot of French New Wave inspiration in the romance scenes. We were trying to make it a little melancholic and a little bit romantic at the same time.
