I loved something like The Battle of Algiers, just the way that that film felt... the idea of getting into their point of view... those were the biggest influences for us, for sure.

We talked a lot about Conquest of the Planet of the Apes. That film is quite hardcore, and it actually ends with him executing humans, and it's very dark. We wanted to make sure that we were taking the story to that place.
