Synopsis

Eager to find a better life abroad, a Senegalese woman becomes a mere governess to a family in southern France, suffering from discrimination and marginalization.

Cinema Atlas Connection
I think films like 'Black Girl' by Ousmane Sembène, or 'Killer of Sheep' by Charles Burnett, these really independent films, they shaped the aesthetic of 'If Beale Street Could Talk' in a big way.
