It’s funny because I was always very keen on Performance by Donald Cammell and Nicolas Roeg, which is full of different kinds of tricks... I always wanted to make a movie that would be as complicated as that. So I think Performance was probably the most direct influence I had for Irreversible in terms of film technique.
