The opening sequence, where you see all the characters at the bomb site and then you go into the flat, was inspired by a Russian film, from the sixties, called Brief Encounters, which introduced its characters in a similar way. They’re standing in a queue for something, you don’t know what, and then the camera does a tracking shot, and it introduces all of them. And I thought, ‘Oh, that’s a beautiful way of introducing the characters.’ So I used that.
