Synopsis

In Luis Buñuel’s deliciously satiric masterpiece, an upper-class sextet sits down to dinner but never eats, their attempts continually thwarted by a vaudevillian mixture of events both actual and imagined.

Cinematic DNA
Buñuel is a huge influence. Especially ‘The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie’ and ‘Viridiana’ for their portrayal of hypocrisy and absurd rituals of the upper class. I think the tone of ‘Parasite’ is very similar to his, navigating between humor and darkness, satire and drama.
