We wanted to achieve a new level of action, and we were thinking of films like 'Drunken Master' and 'Once Upon a Time in China', and the incredible work of people like Yuen Woo-Ping.
We had conversations about specific sequences in movies. One of them was from 2001, the other one was from Kagemusha. A Kurosawa movie. The idea of parallel editing that has thematic resonance, rather than narrative resonance, that was a huge thing for us.
