I grew up watching Vincent Price movies and Dr. Seuss, and German Expressionist films, and stop-motion animation. All that stuff had a real impact on me. I wanted to make a movie that would combine all those things.
I've always loved German Expressionism, the stylized sets, the dramatic shadows, the sense of a world that feels dreamlike rather than realistic. That aesthetic was a huge influence on how I approached the visual design and world-building for films like 'Beetlejuice'.
