I watched this film about eight years ago and it completely blew me away. It was a time when I was really struggling, trying to find my voice and my filmmaking style, and this film really showed me how cinema can be. It’s very sensory and poetic. I didn’t know you could make a film like this. It gave me a lot of confidence and inspiration. Especially with The Rider and Nomadland, I was very much thinking about her use of light and landscape.
