Magali, forty-something, is a winemaker and a widow: she loves her work but feels lonely. Her friends Rosine and Isabelle both want secretly to find a husband for Magali.
I particularly like Éric Rohmer. When I made Happy Hour, I was particularly conscious of A Tale of Autumn. I was thinking about how he deals with friendship between women and how the film subtly explores their emotional landscapes. It's a film about characters trying to find happiness and love in later life, and that resonance was very important for Happy Hour.
