In the 80s, I saw films by Kiarostami, particularly Life and Nothing More… and Taste of Cherry. These were films that shook me. He had a way of bringing reality into the film and at the same time questioning its authenticity. That was very important for me. It taught me to be more critical about realism and representation in my own films.
